Ken of East Coast Boogiemen
(East Coast Boogiemen, Alphabet Music, Amenti Music, Aroma, BlackCherry, Washington DC)
www.kenudigit.com
A decade has passed since East Coast Boogiemen (ECB) was created, and both members have not lost steam! Ken Christensen (who prefers to go by Ken in a club or on a record) has given enormous contributions to the house music scene - whether it be behind the wheels of steel, in Junkyard Studios (he created in 1998), or running numerous record labels. In the last ten years, he has managed five labels (Tequilasound, Odds & Ends Music, Mamas Home Cookin, The Phantom, and Alphabet Music). As a touring DJ that circuits the globe, he frequents many clubs in many countries, including the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Spain, Norway, Germany, UK, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Brazil, and on and on. His endless releases of promotional mix tapes and expansive fan base had him playing with ECB across the globe before he had his first record release.
Ken's audio engineering skills can be found on over thirty record labels. Ken has appeared in various publications including URB Magazine, MixMag, BPM, Remix, DJ Magazine, XLR8R, Huge Magazine, Plan 9 Magazine, Inner Loop Magazine and many others across the globe. As part of ECB, Ken was voted as one of the Next 100 DJs in 2000 by URB Magazine - a sentiment that has remained true these last six years as he has remained one of the prolific producers and cutting edge DJs in the house industry.
Ken has produced a plethora of music on international labels: Alphabet (USA), Aroma (Belgium), Amenti (SF), BlackCherry (Chicago), Lowdown (San Diego), Brique Rouge (France), Afterschool (Los Angeles), Moonshine (Los Angeles), Select (Dallas), Peaches (Chicago), Oomph (Toronto), Deep Funk (Los Angeles), Nightshift (SF), Tequila Sound (DC), Planetary (VA) and Far East (Korea).
Olivier Desmet
(Amenti Music, Primal Records, SF)
www.olivierdesmet.com
Born in Brussels, Belgium, Olivier Desmet (aka Oh Dee) launched his career in the music business working as A&R and promotions manager for the Afterhours Music label in Chicago. During his stay in Chicago, Olivier began producing music under the guidance of respected Chicago artist Mazi (aka Audio Soul Project). An offer to manage the world-renowned Moulton Studios facility for Jay-J and Chris Lum prompted Olivier to move to San Francisco in February 2002.
Currently, Olivier lives and works in San Francisco, where he runs his label Amenti Music, one of the most respected imprints in the business. After twenty-nine releases, Amenti continues to gain popularity thanks to stellar offerings by artists such as Swirl Peepz, ECB, JT Donaldson, Inland Knights, LawnChair Generals, and many others.
Olivier also launched Developed Music, an Amenti sublabel, and is also co-owner and full time buyer for primalrecords.com, an established online record shop based in the San Francisco bay area.
Olivier has also produced and remixed over thirty records for top labels such as Aroma, Siesta Music, Amenti Music, Nightshift, Odds & Ends, and Tango Recordings. His productions have been favorites with top jocks such as Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Raoul Belmans, and Fred Everything. Oh Dee has collaborated on many productions with Chuck Diesel, and has also worked on projects with DJ Spettro, Daniell Spencer, Ken from East Coast Boogiemen, Oriental Funk Stew, Joey Youngman and Demarkus Lewis. His productions have appeared on countless mix CDs, including Farina's “House of OM” CD, and Heather's “Fabric 21” disc.
A sixteen-year veteran behind the decks, Olivier has played venues and events in all major North American markets, and has traveled all over the world, with yearly European, Asian, and Australian tours.
